From Burnout to Breakthrough: How I Reclaimed My Health and Purpose

Taking care of others comes naturally to many of us — especially women. We're nurturers by heart. But often, our own health, energy, and confidence quietly take the backseat. I know that struggle all too well… because I lived it.

During COVID, things hit rock bottom for me. The isolation, the convenience of food delivery, and the heart-wrenching loss of my mother created a storm I wasn’t prepared for. Grief took over, and so did unhealthy habits. I gained over 20 pounds, felt disconnected from myself, and honestly believed I might never get back on track.


Then, one cold January morning in 2021, something inside me clicked. I had a moment of truth — a gut feeling that said, “It’s time to get it together.” That decision became the beginning of an amazing journey filled with growth, movement, and grace.


I didn’t chase perfection. I chased progress.

I started fueling my body with intention, moving with purpose, and giving myself the compassion I used to give everyone else. Slowly but surely, the fog lifted. The negative self-talk, the emotional eating, the fatigue — they began to fade. And what replaced them was even better: clarity, strength, and self-love.

Now, don’t get me wrong — I still have hard days. Weeks even. But I’ve laid the foundation. A solid one. And now I feel called to share my journey in hopes it inspires yours.

My Story: 30 Years in Healthcare… and a Wake-Up Call I Didn't Expect

For over three decades, I worked as a Registered Nurse, most of that time in high-stress ER and Trauma units. I witnessed firsthand the toll that chronic stress, poor lifestyle habits, and emotional burnout can take on the human body.

But while I was busy saving lives, I was quietly losing my own wellness.

At my heaviest, I was nearly 300 pounds. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and stuck in a painful cycle of diets, self-doubt, and broken promises to myself. I poured into everyone else — but my own cup was bone dry.


The Turning Point: Choosing Real, Lasting Change

What changed everything for me wasn’t a fad diet or some overnight fix. It was building a real, holistic foundation — one rooted in science, compassion, and consistency.
